Six people were detained during yesterday’s raid by anticorruption police in Prague at the Czech transport ministry, the state railway operator, and three project and construction companies. The server aktualne.cz reports that police charged six people and three companies involved in public tenders for railway construction projects. Police reportedly detained former deputy director of Czech Railways Antonín Blažek and say they suspect a ring of people manipulated the tenders for major railways investments to push up the prices. An investigation is currently underway at the state’s railways operator and at Sudop, a company that prepares the project documentation for most of the railway investments in the country. Strabag Rail is also under investigation. The company was originally known as Viamont DSP and was founded by a former Minister of Transportation.
